Stryker medical, a leader in the worldwide orthopedic market and one of the world's largest medical device manufacturers, needed help launching an innovative new line of wheelchairs. This new product line was designed to empower younger wheelchair users by offering lightweight, sporty options more suited to an active lifestyle. When Stryker came to Area 50 they had a product prototype and some market research, but nothing else.
Area 50 worked with Stryker to develop the Sorano brand from scratch. Area 50 participated in all facets of the Sorano 650 product launch, including helping decide on the name, designing the logo, establishing the brand guidelines, art directing and coordinating all product photography, designing decals to allow consumers to customize the look of their wheels and chairs, designing the packaging used to ship the product, and building a complex e-commerce web site that enabled Stryker to take highly detailed custom chair orders online.
