Area 50 was challenged with creating engaging content for the GE Monogram refrigerator online training module that would be both entertaining and informative. Online sales training was a new initiative for GE Monogram, therefore the module had to be compelling for the sales force to embrace this new training technique. Technically, the module had to be accessible through a web-based interface regardless of the user's connection. The goal of this project was to provide the retail level sales force with training required to understand and sell GE Monogram refrigerators, so they could better educate consumers on their premium product line up and drive its sales.
Area 50 created a Flash-based e-learning module that combined still photography, custom 3D animation and a professional voice-over narration to explain the features and benefits of the GE Monogram refrigerator line up. To address common download constraints, the module was divided into learning chapters that could be downloaded and viewed sequentially to allow for smaller file sizes and various learning speeds.
Working closely with the client and copywriter, we were able to maintain the integrity of the brand while presenting features and benefits concisely. We also used 3D animation instead of still photography in some areas resulting in a presentation with high visual impact. The 3D animation also allowed sales associates to have a greater understanding of features offered.
We then produced the module by seaming all the visual elements together with the voiceover to deliver an informative and engaging presentation that would stand out and be used by the sales associates to sell the GE Monogram refrigerator line up.
The presentation has been placed in the Mabe Electronic Product Knowledge portal for sales associates to view. The module has been well received by associates and we are scheduled to begin another product learning module shortly.
